The 8th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD), on the theme of “Sustainable and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic in Asia and the Pacific” will take place on 23-26 March 2021. The APFSD is an annual and inclusive intergovernmental forum and a regional platform for supporting countries in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, especially those with special needs. The 8th APFSD will identify, consolidate, and share best practices and lessons learned on how to accelerate the implementation of actions towards the 2030 Agenda while recovering from COVID-19. The Forum will discuss how transformation can take place in the aftermath of COVID-19, conduct in-depth review of SDGS 1,2,3,8,10,12,13,16, and 17, support the presentation of Voluntary National Reviews for the preparatory meeting of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF), and discuss opportunities to strengthen linkages between national, regional and global Follow-up and Review.
UNOSSC Regional Office in Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) will co-host an SDG 17 Global Partnerships Roundtable on 24 March 2021 from 14:00-16:00 hrs. Goal 17 calls for cooperation by all countries, ensuring that “no one is left behind.” Interlinkages between all other SDGs, highlight the importance of SDG 17 in order to enhance effectiveness and impact towards overall SDG Goal progress. The roundtable offers participants an opportunity to engage and discuss policy recommendations that addresses SDG 17 targets in finance, technology, capacity building, trade, and systemic issues. It also incorporates a panel discussion and 4 breakout sessions designed to allow focused discussions of policy recommendations, where UNOSSC ROAP will lead the discussion on partnerships and international cooperation.
