UNOSSC and its partners have developed a fellowship component entitled “Youth for South Fellowship” , under the Youth4South umbrella, which will offer funded opportunities to qualified young professionals and young scholars to undertake short-term research projects, pursue postgraduate degrees, and participate in exchange and training courses in areas including international affairs, international studies, development studies, public policy, public administration and management, international cooperation and South-South and triangular cooperation, at selected prestigious universities and research/technical institutes.
The Youth4South Fellowship (2020-2021) will be piloted jointly with the Ministry of Education (MOE) of China by providing scholarships to a number of established young professionals and scholars from developing countries. The scholarships will be according to the enrollment at the university or the institute, in line with existing China Scholarship Council (CSC) Chinese Government Scholarship schemes.
The Masters Degree Programme at the following selected host universities is now open for application.

* Proficiency in Chinese is required for Masters programme with Shanghai University of International Business and Economics. Applicants who passed Chinese language test HSK level 6 are eligible for the programme. Applicants who passed HSK Level 4 can still be accepted with precondition to take one year Chinese language classes before they start their major.

Application Procedure
Step 1- Applicants complete online application by visiting CGSIS (Chinese Government Scholarship Information System) (Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/studyinchina or http://www.campuschina.org and click “Scholarship Application for Students” to log in). Online submission of the application is compulsory for each applicant by completing the application information and uploading all necessary supporting documents.
Step 2- Applicants prepare the application documents according to the “Nomination package” indicated below and upload all the required documents into the online application system as indicated above.
Step 3- Applicants submit the application package together with relevant documents required by hosted universities to UNOSSC, through nominating agency partners, as required before the deadline. UNOSSC will do initial screening of the qualifications of all applicants and provide the list of recommended recipients to the Ministry of Education/China Scholarship Council (MOE/CSC) through the Permanent Mission of China to the UN in New York.
Step 4- Fully recommended applications by nominating agencies, UNOSSC and MOE/CSC will be forwarded to host universities for placements.
Step 5- The CSC will only offer scholarships to final applicants who are accepted by host universities. CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments to the applicants’ host universities.

The United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) launched the “Youth for South: Advanced Youth Leadership Programme” with several partners including SG Youth Envoy Office, CISSCA, FC-SSC, IFAD, NOREC, UNFPA and the Zayed International Foundation for the Environment in 2017 which aims at facilitating capacity development for established youth leaders from developing countries to learn and adapt South-South and triangular cooperation knowledge and tools in scaling up Southern development solutions with the objective of bringing sustainable development to their home country and local communities.
