Statement of Support by Hong Kong Cyberport for UN Office for South-South Cooperation Initiative (UNOSSC)

“Hong Kong is recognized as a regional innovation and technology hub, and as Asia’s global city with extensive connections with many countries along the Belt and Road. Cyberport, Hong Kong’s digital technology hub, is delighted to be a supporting organization for the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) “South-South Entrepreneurship Academy” initiative. This initiative is expected to better engage young people and SMEs from the Global South and Hong Kong through win-win cooperation with Cyberport and leveraging, where appropriate and mutually-agreeable, from the support from its training activities and venues, community of digital technology entrepreneurs, and links with corporate sponsors and investors.

This cooperation is based on Cyberport’s earlier support for the UNOSCC, the School of Business of Gratia Christian College and the UNESCO Association in Hong Kong, notably the “Youth Dialogue” that took place in Hong Kong in March 2018 and the subsequent exhibition on the same subject at the Regional Consultative Meeting towards the Second UN High-level Conference on South-South Cooperation that took place on June 27-29, 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Cyberport welcomes future opportunities to cooperate with UNOSSC projects that can help participating countries develop knowledge and capacity that empower them to build up their own digital economy and facilitate exchange and cooperation between their entrepreneurs and SMEs and Hong Kong’s”.
