Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Development Forum visits UN Office for South-South Cooperation, Asia-Pacific

Mr. Francois Martel, Secretary-General of the Pacific Islands Development Forum paid a visit to the UNOSSC Asia-Pacific Office on 19 February 2018. The Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation to collaborate in strengthening South-South and triangular cooperation in the Pacific Region. Anticipated activities include support for the blue economy, sustainable lands management and ocean health. A workplan discussed during the meeting that includes capacity building, strengthening South-South focal points and a South-South in Action Publication. “PDIF was created to achieve Green Growth through South-South cooperation”, said Mr. Martel on the importance of South-South cooperation in the context of PIDF.
